How should I price my items?
We suggest you set the price at 25-30% of the retail value. Baby Equipment, Children’s Furniture and Large Indoor/Outdoor Toys usually sell for more and are in high demand. We have an abundance of 0-6 month sizes, so they must be priced competitively in order to sell. Maternity clothing is not shopped as heavily, so price these competitively, also.

 

Should I iron my clothes?
Wrinkled clothes do not sell! We will likely send them home to you if they are extremely wrinkled. Please do what is necessary to make your clothes look clean and nice. Remember, the better they look, the more likely they are to sell!

 

I don't smoke, but my husband does, what if there is a small amount of smoke odor in my children's clothing that I am bringing to sell?
We are not able to accept ANY clothing that has odor of any kind. When it is hung on the rack with other clothes, the odor spreads. We must be sensitive to children and families with allergies and we absolutely cannot sell any items with smoke odor, pet odor, or any other kind of odor. Clothing with pet hair is also not acceptable.

 

Is this a one time event?
Trendy Not Spendy hosts this sale twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall.

Can I bring my children?
Yes, children are welcome at the sale. We do ask that they are with an adult at all times.

Who can consign their items and become a seller?
Anyone can consign their children's items.


What percentage of the sales do I receive?
Consignors automatically receive 70% of their sales less a $10 consignor fee (paid at registration). If you volunteer to work a shift you can reduce your consignor fee to $5.

Who does the pricing?
You set your own price and you get to decide if it is discounted on our half-price day.

When do I pick up my unsold items?
Unsold items are to be picked up at the end of the sale.  All items not picked up at that time will automatically be donated to our charity!

Do I have to sort through the racks to find my unsold items?
No, when you pick up your unsold items, your hanging garments will already be sorted by Consignor# for easy pickup. As time allows, we hope to have all of the other items sorted, too.

How long does it take to receive my check?
Your check will be mailed to you within 10 days of the end of the sale.

 

Where do I find safety pins/hangers?
We prefer plastic tube hangers which can be found at most discount stores. Several department stores will give you leftover hangers. If you need a lot, ask if you can buy them. The other place to try is your local Target store where they are 10 for $1. Trendy not Spendy will have limited quantities of these supplies for sale, if needed.

If I consign my items, do I have to stay during the sale?
No. Consignors drop off their items and put them out on the selling floor during the designated drop-off times and come back during the designated times to pick up their unsold items. We do the rest!


What items are you taking?
We accept anything related to babies or children. The clothing should be current fashion. For fall/winter items, bring those to our September sale. For spring/summer items, bring those to our March sale. Other great items are toys, books, videos, strollers, baby equipment, nursery items, large play equipment, bedding, cribs, changing tables, etc. We will accept any season fashionable maternity at either sale.

Do you take maternity clothes?
Yes, we do accept all seasons of maternity clothing.

 

Can anyone sign up as a volunteer and attend the presales?
Yes, anyone may sign up to volunteer on a first come/first serve basis. You do not have to be a consignor to volunteer. We welcome husbands and grandparents, too!


Can I refer friends and family to consign?
Yes, for every participating consignor you refer you earn an additional $5 on your final check. Note that the consignor must complete the process and sell items at the event.
